Ecommerce behemoth Amazon has doubled its export target from the Indian market to $20 billion by 2025.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos said on a visit to India in 2020 that the e-tailer aimed to export around $10 billion worth of merchandise from the country by 2025, but the company said it was already on track to hit $5 billion in exports soon.
Amazon decided to revise its export target after seeing increased momentum over the years, Abhijit Kamra, director for global trade at Amazon India said.
Amazon India achieved $1 billion in exports three years after the programme began in 2015. Since then, it has hit cumulative exports of over $3 billion. Over 100,000 small and medium enterprises are part of the Amazon Export programme, Kamra said
