J-K govt announces guest control @ weddings

The J-K government has issued an order, limiting the number of guests allowed to be invited to any social and private gathering, including weddings. It also imposed a complete ban on sending gifts with invitation cards, and the use of fire crackers and loudspeakers on such occasions. Choudhary Zulfikar Ali, minister for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs said, “The number of invited guests should not exceed 500 for a daughter's marriage, while it should be limited to 400 for the marriage of a son. The number of guests should not be more than 100 for occasions like ring ceremony ... The number of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes should be restricted to a seven each,“ Ali said. The order will apply from April 11.
