IIT-B slips 20 spots in global rankings

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay has slipped 20 spots in the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings 2021 released on Wednesday. The institute was ranked 172 in the list of top universities around the world. It ranked 152 globally for 2020. However, the institute has retained its top position in India.

The QS, a UK-based education consultancy company, is known for its world university rankings based on the following criteria: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty to student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty and international students.

IIT Bombay’s overall score was 46 out of 100 as opposed to the top overall score of 100 for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which is globally number 1.
