Three people, a man and two women, were killed while five others, including some tourists, were feared drowned following cloudbursts at Choj and Malana in Parvati valley of Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district, a landslide in Shimla district and a car falling into the Beas on Wednesday.
While the man died after the car he was travelling in fell into the river, one woman died in cloudburst and the other in landslide.
Four people were feared drowned and many houses, tourist camps and dhabas were swept away following a massive cloudburst in Gohar nullah flowing near Manikaran in Choj valley. The second cloudburst near Malana blocked the road to the village and washed away some sheds, an ambulance, and other infrastructure of the Malana hydel project below the village. A local woman is said to have drowned near the dam site.
A landslide was reported in the Dhalli suburb of Shimla city on Wednesday and a woman was killed and two others were injured seriously.
A young man died after their car plunged into the Beas near Babeli village in Kullu district. Police said the car was coming from Hamirpur and going towards Manali when driver Arun Bahadur fell asleep around 1.30am and lost control of the vehicle. Two others, Aman and Keval Krishan of Mandi district, were also in the car. As the car fell into the river, Arun managed to swim to the river bank, police said.
