Aadhaar hits 1bn mark

Aadhaar enrolments are set to hit the one billion mark by the weekend. The milestone is expected to bolster the government's case in the Supreme Court, which has restricted the use of UID to a few schemes such as MNREGA and Jan Dhan Yojana. The achievement could pave the way for the roll out of the government's ambitious plan to expand the use of the ID to deliver subsidies and entitlements.
