Of Jairam's PIL on Aadhaar bill....

The Supreme Court has sought AG Mukul Rohatgi's stand on Congress MP Jairam Ramesh's PIL challenging introduction of Aadhar bill in Parliament as a `money bill' accusing the BJP-led NDA government of committing a `Constitutional fraud' and acting mala- fide to bypass RS approval.
“The introduction of Aadhar bill as a `money bill' was nothing but a brazen and malafide attempt to bypass the approval of Rajya Sabha which holds an important place in the Constitutional and democratic framework of lawmaking,“ Ramesh said, challenging the Constitutional validity of the Aadhar Act.
Congress leaders and senior advocates -P Chidambaram and Kapil Sibal -appeared for Ramesh before a bench of Chief Justice T S Thakur and Justices R Banumathi and U U Lalit.
They said the `money bill' route was a narrow channel not meant to cover an ordinary finance bill that would require approval of both Houses of Parliament.
The bench, without issuing notice to the Union government, asked the top law officer of the Modi government to present his stand.
