Alwar gang rape

Rajasthan police have arrested three persons in connection with the gang rape of a woman in Alwar, while two other accused were still at large.

According to the FIR filed by the victim, the incident took place on April 26 when the five accused allegedly gang-raped her in front of her husband. The accused also uploaded a video of the crime on social media, which went viral.

While Inderraj Gujjar and Mukesh Gujjar were arrested on Tuesday, Ashok Gujjar, who allegedly shot the video, was nabbed by the police on Wednesday. Hunt is on to catch the two remaining accused — Chhotalal and Hansraj.

Police sources confirmed that Mukesh Gujjar was responsible for spreading the video clip of the crime on social media.

On Tuesday, DGP Kapil Garg had said that the police had formed 14 teams to nab all the accused.

As per the victim’s FIR, she and her husband were stopped by five bike-borne men while they were travelling on a motorcycle near the Thanagazi-Alwar bypass. The accused then took the couple to an isolated place, thrashed the husband and took turns to rape the woman while filming the heinous act.

The accused had threatened the couple with dire consequences if they reported the matter to the police. They also extorted money from the couple by threatening to make the video clip viral on social media. After repeated extortion threats, the couple registered an FIR on May 2.

The case also took a political turn with the BJP demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for his failure to prevent such crimes in the state.
